Mahe island is the largest island in Seychelles with huge granite mountains that overlook the bays. Seychelles International Airport opened in 1971 is in Mahe Island. Rare endemic plants are found here such as the critically endangered jellyfish tree, the carnivorous Seychelles pitcher plant and many unique species of orchid. Tourists come here to enjoy the beauty of white sandy beaches, amazing coastline and mangrove forests.
